Thin Line

My paint by numbers dream was not that sweet

Yet night upon night I played it on repeat

Tables turn

My opposition burned

I always knew still water ran deep

Failed to look before I leaped

My happiness was not an island

Stalling for something to be decided

I am walking a thin line of my life

Deliberately to stay alive

It had been many months of many falsities

I was tangled in monstrosities

With people who knew better

One cold type was an abettor

Still I said nothing

Kept walking that thin line

Telling barely anyone

That I had come undone

In the silence

This ensured my compliance

Tell me

What was my life

Without this

Tell me

Who would I be

If I had not walked that thin line
